Arashiyama (嵐山 is located in North-west of Kyoto (Kyoto prefecture). And is one of the most beautiful place in Japan with its vivid and colorful scenery, saturated foliage and expressive Katsura river (桂川.
Although Arashiyama is a real place, the image I created is based only on inspiration and memories (no photos or any other references were used).
As always everything was started with sketches. Before actual modeling I had sketched every detail ranging from overviews to detailed Japanese lanterns and houses. Even though houses stay mostly unseen because of blossoming "Sakura" trees. Foliage and render were made in Vue. Foreground trees were manually customized and deformed to fit the scenery. Render took about 5-8 hours to be finished.
Some minor post work was done in Photoshop.
Hope you enjoyed the spring spirit that I tried to depict in this render.
Best of Luck!
